About this doll

'Elouise' has long platinum curls and wears a white lace blouse, a satin corset and a tulle skirt. She was made by Lynn Harrison from a sculpt and mold by the English artists Bunny Morris and Paul Jackson.

The mold was a limited edition that was never produced commercially. No mold was offered for sale; only those who attended the artists' seminar could make the doll, which makes her all the rarer.

Background

Bunny Morris and Paul Jackson are a sculpting team whose molds were published through Seeley's: the 18-inch all-porcelain child 'Angel', the bust 'Claire', the 30-inch teen 'Daisy Garland' and a fairy series. Bunny Morris is also known for the 'Dollies Galore' collection of 5-inch 'Popit' dolls with interchangeable pop-in limbs.

Seminar-only molds are a distinctive tradition of porcelain dollmaking. When an artist reserves a sculpt for the seminars she teaches rather than selling the mold, the participants learn her painting and costuming methods first-hand while completing a strictly limited number of dolls. Such a doll carries the record of the seminar along with the artist's touch.
